The Smithsonian Foundation of Panama is a non-profit Panamanian organization created in 1996 by a group of well-known members of the Panamanian business community. After a series of meetings with then STRI Director, Dr. Ira Rubinoff, this group of individuals formed an organization that would support and help disseminate the work of STRI in Panama.
The Smithsonian Foundation works closely with STRI to identify and promote specific projects that allow the dissemination of STRI research among all Panamanians, particularly children by making knowledge accessible. It also helps to find local partners and potential donors to help raise awareness of STRI’s research and how it benefits human welfare in the tropics. Our mission
To advance scientific and educational projects and programs in order to promote STRI’s work.
Our vision
That Panama values the scientific knowledge generated by STRI in order to protect our natural heritage.
