MESSAGE TO THE STRI COMMUNITY REGARDING
ANAM RESEARCH PERMITS:

Dear Visitor,
If you need a research permit application for collecting, observation, or marking of specimens in Panama, a STRI research application must first be submitted to obtain the required approval. For this purpose, please register in our Visitors Application.
Once your research application is approved, all participants must submit a visit request joining the project in the Visitors Application.
You may proceed to submit your research permit application.  However, please be aware that your permit request will be “on hold” until the research application (project proposal) and visit request from all participants have been approved.
For further information, please contact STRI-ANAMpermits@si.edu

IMPORTANT

  • STRI requires that all scientific investigators and assistants sign a Disclaimer when processing ANAM’s permits. Download it here in English and Spanish.  Please scan and send to STRI-ANAMpermits@si.edu
  • Panamanian law requires that a Panamanian researcher (citizen) must be included in all the scientific research permits.  If you do not know a Panamanian researcher, please contact us at STRI-ANAMpermits@si.edu
  • This permit application does not apply to research in the Barro Colorado Nature Monument (BCNM). Click here for information about doing research in BCNM.
