Collaborative Agreements

STRI maintains a dynamic international program of collaboration and exchanges with academic and research institutions. The objective is to promote and strengthen scientific research in the tropics. Agreements are individually negotiated and categories include Educational and Scientific Cooperation. Existing educational agreements are directed towards hosting and supporting short and long-term field courses and academic work and scientific exchanges, whereas others have a broader scope and/or cover specific research projects currently on going between a STRI researcher and his/her colleague or group.

Regular and effective host country relationships are also maintained through collaboration agreements with various national academic and research institutions, as well as non-governmental associations.

In addition, the Institute is authorized and has been afforded special status to conduct its mission in Panama through official agreements that assure continued operations and allows for long-term research over the next twenty years or more.
