BCI Boats
The department of Aquatic Operations is in charge of boats through STRI, but especially in Barro Colorado Island where more than the 50% (47 boats) of the boats STRI owned are located. They commonly divided into three sections. Scientific use, Support boats and the Employees and visitors shuttle. These boats are all kept under the American Boat and Yacht Council technical standards and the safety standards required by the rules and laws exercised by the Panama Canal Authority ACP, for boats navigating in the Panama Canal waters.
The Scientific Coordinator is the contact person for conducting research using these small outboard motor boats and to coordinate other boat services, the Aquatic Operations Manager should be contacted.
Bellow you may find schematics of flowchart and an Organization chart of the department so you could have a better idea of how this section works.
