Isis Ochoa

Collin Lab Laboratory Manager. Isis graduated from the University of Panama (BSc in Biology with emphasis on Animal Biology). She has been working at STRI since late 2000 and has been involved in several projects in the Panama Canal Area, Bocas Del Toro, Chiriquí and Coiba Island. She recently joined the Collin Lab as the new Lab manager.

General assistant in the CollinLab, graduated from the University of Panama with a degree in Biology.
Responsible for the care of marine animals and laboratory projects.

Scientific communicator
Biology degree from University of Panama and M.A. student in Digital Journalism at the University of Panama.
He is responsible for social media, science vision, public outreach and communication for Bocas Research Station.

Rebecca Rissanen

Rebecca Rissanen

Rebecca Rissanen graduated from the University of Panama (BSc in Biology with emphasis on Environmental Biology) and has been working in the Collin Lab since early 2006. Her main focus is on outreach, both on the K-12 educational and public interest levels. Before Collin Lab, she was involved in several other projects in STRI as a volunteer, doing undergraduate thesis work, and later as an intern.

She also worked part-time as a nature guide in the Punta Culebra Nature Center from early 2007 to March 2011.


Maricela Salazar

Maricela Salazar

Collin Lab Laboratory Manager from 2006-2011. Maricela graduated from the University of Panama (BSc in Biology with emphasis on Environmental Biology). She also has a Masters of Science (with emphasis on Environmental management). She previously worked at STRI on a survey of Seagrass in Bocas del Toro, and on the morphometry of Lucinidae bivalves in Bocas del Toro. She worked at the Collin lab from 2003 until November 2011 when she moved to the UK.

María Fernanda Vinasco

Research Aid - has a B.Sc. in Biology with an emphasis on Environmental Biology. She participated in McGill-Stri course,
and has been a volunteer and an intern in STRI. She has been working in Collin Laboratory since 2007. Her research interest is in Evolution, Marine Conservation and Management.
