The workshop will involve an initial two days of presentations at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute headquarters in Panama City. We will then head to STRI's research station on Barro Colorado Island for two days of discussions/short talks in a workshop-style format.  The BCI facility includes accommodation and all meals and there will be ample opportunities for field excursions into lowland tropical forest. The workshop will end with a dinner at the Miraflores Locks, at the Pacific entrance to the Panama Canal.

The all inclusive registration fee of USD $600 includes the following:

  1. Bus transfers for two days from hotel to the STRI headquarters.
  2. Lunches, drinks and snacks for two days at the STRI headquarters.
  3. Two all inclusive days/nights on Barro Colorado Island, including bus transfer to/from the Gamboa dock, boat transfer along the Panama Canal to BCI, and two nights full board accommodation with three meals each day. Note that the BCI rooms have three people sharing.
  4. Conference dinner at the Miraflores Locks on the Pacific entrance to the Panama Canal (including drinks).

Note that delegates will therefore need to arrange accommodation for February 3rd and 4th (Sunday and Monday) and the 7th (Thursday). We are arranging discounted rooms at a nearby hotel and transport from the hotel to the workshop will be provided each day.
